Naxos has nice towns and nice hiking and nice beaches, and great food (best feta I have ever tasted), and yes some dusty roads too.

My two candidates for underrated places in Greece: Sifnos and Thessaloniki.

Santorini was overcrowded with tourists (just like us lol) and was easily our least favorite. Hard to feel the charm when evey inch of Oia streets jammed with people. Heard evenings there were more enjoyable (once the cruise ships leave).

Been to both, won’t be going back. Both just a cruise ship stop over. Lacking in a Greek feel to them, just get people in, get your photos of windmills and blue domes and get back on the ship!
