Today: Top 10 best Business Class amenity kits in the skies.

Flying Business Class is purely aspirational for most, a lifetime experience for some, and a must for a select few. I previously published a top 10 list of the world’s best airlines for longhaul Business Class. Besides gourmet food, a flatbed, more attentive service, and access to an airport lounge, Business Class passengers will also receive an upgraded amenity kit as compared to travelers in Economy (‘cattle’) Class. Here’s my selection of the 10 best Business Class amenity kits in the skies. Some of these kits are real collector items, and you’ll want to take them home after your flight!

There is more information (with trip reports) below the slide show. Think I missed one? Share your favorite Business Class amenity kit in the comments section!

10. KLM ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINE

KLM Royal Dutch Airline’s Business Class amenity kits have been created by Jan Taminiau, one the most successful fashion designers from the Netherlands. There are six unique comfort bags in 12 different colors, and a new design is added every year. These comfort bags, which come in the shape of a clutch bag and a wallet, are designed to be used during the flight and afterwards, as you may keep them as a small handbag or pass them on as a gift to a loved one or a friend. The contents of the bags are basic and include regular essentials for longhaul travel, like eye mask, ear plugs, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, and skin care products (Rituals lip balm & face moisturizer). As well as an amenity bag, Business Class passengers also receive one of KLM’s collectible Delft Blue Houses, which are filled with Dutch gin, also known as jenever.

9. ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS

One of Japan’s two major airlines, All Nippon Airways (ANA) is known for its refined in-flight service, and its Business Class amenity kits are just another reason why. Passengers receive an amenity pouch by Globe-Trotter, a British luxury brand with over 120 years of history. ANA partnered for the creation of the kits’ content with the renowned L’OCCITANE brand, a leading manufacturer and retailer of premium products originating from the Provence in southern France (with a focus on wellness and natural beauty). The ANA Business Class amenity kit contains several products from L’OCCITANE including L’OCCITANE Fabulous Serum and L’OCCITANE Ultra-Rich Lip Balm Stick, in addition to a toothbrush and toothpaste, eye mask, earplugs, tissues and cotton pads.

8. FINNAIR

Finnair’s longstanding partnership with Finnish design house Marimekko is reflected in its Business Class amenity kits, which feature Maija Isola’s iconic designs from the 1960s. The four designs – Rautasänky, Joonas, Jenkka, and Pieni melooni – are available two at a time and are changed every six months. The colors complement the new blue-on-blue sleep textiles with Isola’s Kaivo pattern. Each amenity kit includes almond-coconut lip cream and a chamomile-lavender facial hydrator from L:A Bruket, an eye mask with soft-touch fabric, ear plugs, and a toothbrush. Sustainability is an important part of the amenity kit renewal: the toothbrush is made from bio-plastic containing cornstarch, plastic wrappings for the earplugs have been replaced with wax paper, and each amenity kit comes wrapped in a cardboard band instead of plastic.

7. SINGAPORE AIRLINES

Singapore Airlines is known for having one of the world’s best Business Class products, but historically the airline didn’t offer amenity kits. Instead, Singapore Airlines chose to stock its lavatories with essentials such as combs and dental kits. In 2020 that all changed when the carrier introduced Business Class amenity kits ‘on request’ (but it’s a request worth making). The Business Class kit was developed in collaboration with Penhaligon, a brand which enjoys a robust reputation as one of England’s most iconic perfumeries. The amenity kit comes as a green folio-style bag featuring a signature perfume bottle stopper shaped zip pull. Inside the kit are a trio of unisex products – hand lotion, lip balm and a facial mist spray – from Penhaligon’s oaky-green Quercus range, which leads with citrus and basil underpinned by notes of jasmine, cardamom, lily and amber.

6. CHINA AIRLINES

China Airlines – the oldest airline in Taiwan – is collaborating with The North Face outdoor brand to inject the elements of youth, sports and fashion into its elegant Business Class cabins. The multi-function travel pouch incorporates flying elements such as a zipper key ring with ribbons and a carry loop for convenient stowage. The kit is loaded with great content. The Norwegian skin care brand “SPREKENHUS” was chosen to supply passengers with environmentally sustainable and high-performance products including hand cream, lip balm, and hand sanitizer. Other supplies include an oral hygiene kit, eye mask, ear plugs, and compact folding hairbrush. Eco-friendly materials were given precedence in everything from the packaging to the contents to encourage travelers to join in protecting the environment.

5. QANTAS

In celebration of its Centenary year in 2000, Qantas released a line of bags inspired by inflight designs from the 1960s to the present day. For example, one bag is influenced by the black pilot uniforms of the 1960s, featuring a debossed logo in gold which depicts the wings of the time. Each bag is the airline’s most sustainable to date and contains a a dental kit featuring a bamboo toothbrush and White Glo toothpaste packaged in a recycled sleeve, terry cotton and jersey eyeshade, socks made from 30% bamboo with a polyester blend, earplugs packaged in recycled paper, and Australian botanical wellness set including Li-Tya lip balm, face cream and hand cream packaged in recycled craft paper. Also, Qantas and Tourism Western Australia have collaborated with Western Australian Wongi artist Kevin Wilson to display his artwork on a limited series of Qantas amenity kits featuring some of the region’s most stunning locations.

4. QATAR AIRWAYS

Qatar Airways’ amenity kits have been created in collaboration with Iconic French perfumer, Diptyque. The new range consists of Diptyque branded bags as well as gift boxes featuring Diptyque’s signature oval branding, customised for male and female passengers. Each Qatar Airways amenity kit and gift box provides specially selected Diptyque products including nourishing Lip Balm (enriched with roses and violets to soothe and soften the lips), fresh body lotion (infused with the scent of orange blossoms, to refresh sleepy skin for all skin types), essential face cream (nourishing and replenishing, with prickly pear extract to boost radiance) and Diptyque fragrance (‘Eau Rose’ eau de toilette with an infusion of the finest damascena and centifolia roses, or the brand’s signature ‘34 Boulevard Saint Germain’ eau de toilette with notes of amber, patchouli, cinnamon and rose).

3. TURKISH AIRLINES

Raising its privileged travel concept even higher, Turkish Airlines is offering its Business Class passengers exclusive amenity kits provided by Ferragamo. Ferragamo is a century-year-old Italian luxury brand renowned for its leather goods and pioneering footwear. The chic and functional design of the bags, available in different colors throughout the year, makes them attractive for use even after the journey. In line with Turkish Airlines’ sustainability roadmap, luxury soft socks, first-class eye masks, and earplugs found in the travel set are made from recycled plastic, the toothbrush is made from wheat straw. Also, the paper brochures within the set are printed on papers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The kit also includes skincare products so travelers can arrive at their destinations refreshed and leave the plane’s dry air far behind.

2. EVA AIR

Taiwan-based carrier EVA Air also teamed up with Italian luxury brand Ferragamo to create the amenity kits for its Business Class passengers on long-haul flights. The hard-case amenity kits in classically elegant black are available to all Business Class passengers, departing from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport on long-haul flights. Contents include a color-coordinated eye mask, cozy socks, a hairbrush, a microfiber cloth for cleaning glasses and screens on personal devices, earplugs, a toothbrush and toothpaste and skincare essentials. Returning to Taipei on these flights, EVA Air is providing Ferragamo soft-bag amenity kits in an eye-catching design, blending Taiwan’s aboriginal rhombus totems with stylish western cultural elements. The soft-sided bags were created to acquaint EVA’s passengers from around the globe with Taiwan’s art and culture.

1. EMIRATES

Emirates offers the most luxurious Business Class amenity kits in the skies, albeit only on longhaul overnight flights. The mammoth amenity kits are presented as two bag shapes, a pouch and classic toiletry bag silhouette, both made from vegan leather in a standout metallic silver shade with lilac accents.
